Some of the youngest participants in "The Getty Initiative," selections from "Long Island's Best," and "The 2025 NAHS 6x6 Collaboration." Come to the receptions!
THE GETTY INITIATIVE
This show features photography from students of the Milton L. Olive Middle School in Wyandanch.
You can read about “The Getty Initiative” here. Basically, this program connects young people with the opportunity to learn photography from Al Bello, one of the best in the business, together with local teachers using equipment donated by Canon and others. It is as much learning about business as it is about the craft. The artworks this year are very much about community. It is an honor to host them.
Featuring works by: Londynn Stafford, Promise Knight, Cheyanne Payton & Gabriel Fowler
A reception will be held Thursday, June 12, 6pm.
Selections from Long Island's Best
“Long Island’s Best” at The Heckscher Museum is the only juried exhibition on LI that invites Young Artists to show in a museum.
Submissions are inspired by works viewed at the Heckscher during the school year. 100s of students grades 9-12 apply. Roughly 80 works are selected. It is an incredibly moving display of talent and still.
We are honored to offer a sampling of this show, and to be inspired ourselves by these incredible young artists.
Featuring works by: AJ Castillo, Kaitlyn Cook, Theodora Doukas, Caitlyn Gordon, Maggie Hui, Sadie Koo, Lexia Lindsay, Hang Mi, Ava Ortellado, Maia Schnaider, Xavier Tian, Henry Zhao, Lyla Zwolak
A reception will be held: Thursday, June 12, 7pm
ANNUAL NAHS 6X6 COLLABORATIVE

For over a decade now, teachers across Long Island have been bringing members of the National Art Honor Society together in a multi-school endeavor to connect, collaborate and create, resulting in a showcase of student art that is as playful as it is profound.
Participating High Schools include: Cold Spring Harbor, Garden City, Half Hollow Hills East, Harborfields, Hicksville, Northport, Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK, Syosset
